News from the Gorton Heritage Trail
From Ray, 31/01/2000
The next couple of months are going to be busy ones for the Heritage trail, with another seasonal activity day, an open meeting and work due to start on the repairs to the Salt Road Footpath.
The Winter activity day is to take place on Sunday 27th February and will include another this years sponsored bird walk. Other events may include another Brookfield bell tower open day (by popular request) some conservation work and possible repair of the stile on Tan yard Brow.
The next open meeting is set for March 2nd. A talk on the wildlife of the trail will be given by myself (Ray Daly) and possibly a representative of Manchester Wildlife. We will also describe how the work of the action group can preserve and enhance local wildlife by creating new habitats and managing existing ones
Work on the salt road repair is to be carried out during March and is funded under the City Council's CAS:H grant scheme. The Heritage Trail's bid was successful and the Community Tecnical Aid Centre has been engaged to oversee the project
