The save the Tub campaign's fun day was a great success, over 800 people took part in some way. Attractions included a fire engine, balloons, raffle, stalls, badge making, face painting, pirates fancy dress, and walking the plank. The campaign paid half the normal £2 entrance for kids, to prove how many people would use the tub if it was promoted and affordable and over 400 children used the pool during the afternoon swim session meaning that if the Tub had only received the £1 per head it would still have been in profit. At 3.30pm, those not in the pool stopped the traffic on Hyde Rd. in protest at the proposed closure.
