      GORTON CELEBRATES !

The weather did not quench the enthusiasm of everyone involved in the only party on Ryder Brow Estate. The organisers, Tracy and Karen did a wonderful job. Sylvia made the bunting which looked great, many thanks to them from everybody in the Avenue. The afternoon started with a party, which every Mum contributed to and then there were games with sweets and prizes for every child, win or lose. The Karaoke was enjoyed by all the performers and the audience alike. There was a Tombola of donated toys for every household with a child there. The day ended with a fireworks display and each child being given a present to take home along with memories to last forever. Well done to everyone involved.

AND MOURNS THE LOSS OF  Mrs. DOROTHY MITTON, 1927-2002

It is with deep regret that we announce the death  of Mrs. Dorothy Mitton who worked tirelessly over the years for the people of Ryder Brow Estate and Gorton as a  whole.
Mrs Mitton was born in Sale and was educated at Manchester High School for Girls. Her father was a Head Gardener for Manchester Parks and ended his working days at Debdale Park.
She married her husband, James in 1956 and set up home in one of the oldest cottages in Gorton, on Bett's Farm, on Ryder Brow. They moved down south for a few years before returning to Gorton in 1983. In 1989 Mrs. Mitton got together with other like minded people and formed the Ryder Brow Tenants & Residents Association, of which she was chair on and off from the beginning. Through the Association she was an executive member of the old FAME (Federation of All Manchester Estates) .
